2008 Presidential Election

So we're free to write about anything we want, so I thought I would write about something that affects me directly, since i believe this. Religion is a major issue when it comes to politics. My mom is a Jehovah's Witness and i grew up learning from her. Although somethings she says I believe and others i don't, one thing i do believe is that America is falling down and it is soon coming to an end. It may sound a bit dramatic and not many people may agree but if you really think about it, it's a possibility. In my opinion, we need to be informed about the views that the people were voting for have when it comes to religion.

Here is one example. John McCain is one of the presidential candidates for the election of 2008. http://pewforum.org/religion08/profile.php?CandidateID=4 Here you will find that Mr. John McCain is a faithful Christan. It even says that 72% of Americans believe that it's important for the president to have strong religious beliefs. Of course I believe that this would only be truly convenient for people of the same religion. Although we have the freedom of religion, the president could still pass a law that said we couldn't do something our religion required us to do, or it could also be the other way around. There are many different things that we have to look at and consider when were choosing a president.

On the other hand there is Barack Obama. He also calls himself a Christan. The difference here is that, in my opinion, his faith doesn't seem to be as strong as McCain's, but I think it's mainly just because McCain went through a very memorable experience, as shown on the previous link, that made his faith stand out and very strong. Obama seems to be a great man with a loving heart, but for some Christians that may not be enough. I don't know what other people may think about this topic but these are my opinions. Some Christians may think that it's better if they vote for someone who shares the beliefs as them. In the end, this is my point of view, and i think it plays a big role with politics.

WOW! EXCELLENT POINT! Its true though, we do need to look at their religious perspectives when choosing them. I never thought of that. Thanks for opening my mind!

You're when you said that we need to look at their religious perpectives because that might have something to do with what they want to do as a president.

I'm glad you're writing about things that pertain to you in this election!

Why do think that Obama's faith is not strong? What information has led you to believe this? Show us your sources!
